Police Recover Stolen Cattle, Arrest Two Suspects in Katakwi

The Police Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) has successfully recovered three stolen cows and arrested two suspects in Katakwi District.

The cattle, which had been taken from Ayom Peter, a cattle trader in Abokodia Sub-county, Usiku County, were stolen from Abarata Market.

Thanks to swift police action, the stolen livestock were recovered and the suspects apprehended.

The suspects, identified as Olinga Mariko (27) and Emudong Syrus (38), both residents of Akou Ecom Village, Oburatumu Parish, Ongongoja Sub-county, are currently in police custody, where they are being questioned.

Authorities confirmed that they will face charges in connection with the theft.

Mike Longole, the Karamoja Police Spokesperson, praised the officers involved in the operation, highlighting their dedication.

“This successful recovery is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our officers. We are pleased to have recovered the stolen cattle and arrested the suspects,” Longole said.

He further reaffirmed the police’s commitment to fighting crime and protecting citizens’ property.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that justice is served and that our communities remain safe and secure,” he added.

The Uganda Police Force has urged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity in an effort to combat livestock theft in the region.
