In Moroto District, 3,604 individuals have been successfully registered so far, a figure that continues to grow as mobilization efforts intensify.
The registration process, which covers all six sub-counties in the district, as well as one town council and two divisions within Moroto Municipality, has seen steady progress.
Areas included in the exercise are Nadunget Sub County, Rupa Sub County, Loputuk Sub County, Tapac Sub County, Katikekile Sub County, Lotisan Sub County, Nadunget Town Council, and North and South Divisions of the municipality.
Of the 3,604 registrants, 2,076 are transfers to new voter locations, while 1,260 are first-time registrants.
Additionally, 268 individuals have applied for their first national identification cards. A closer analysis of the trends shows that female participation has surpassed that of males.
Moroto District Election Administrator, Rose Lilly Loumo Lokuth, expressed satisfaction with the exercise thus far, noting that the process has been steady with minimal setbacks.
“The exercise has been steady with minimal setbacks this far,” Loumo said.
Karamoja Regional Elections Officer, Linos Okori Lima, confirmed that the registration process is running smoothly across the region, and officials expect the daily registration numbers to continue rising as the deadline approaches.
“We continue to urge residents to take advantage of the remaining days to ensure they are properly registered ahead of the upcoming elections,” Okori stated.
